Hello reader, shall I tell you a story?
From a young age, I found solace in the fashion and digital media realm, using it as a means of self-expression to combat low self-esteem. Immersing myself in platforms like YouTube and Tumblr, and following shows like America's Next Top Model and Gossip Girl, provided a backstage comfort zone. But there was one thing all these platforms had in common—they didn’t hold a known space for Black people.
Born in Nairobi, Kenya, I’ve always pulled from my culture to cultivate space. That intention led me to create TheUMACollection, a platform built to pay homage to my youth and identity through digital media. This brand caters to those who are often overlooked, offering a space to celebrate authenticity and self-discovery. Through this journey, I’ve learned that true tranquility comes from embracing one’s own voice.
I am an educator, a creative, a photographer, and an entrepreneur. I combine my passion for teaching with my artistic vision, building meaningful connections and impactful projects in every facet of my work. I am the stalemate between tradition and innovation—honoring what was, nurturing what is, and imagining what could be.
